With the strongest increase in Gross Domestic Product in the European Union in the last quarter of 2020, of 5.3 percent, and a total decline of 3.9 percent over the whole year, Romania’s economy managed to withstand the first year of the pandemic. Along with a series of measures taken by local authorities at the macroeconomic level, the business environment played a significant role in this achievement.

Business Review decided to talk about five star sectors of the local economy – from logistics to the chemical industry, IT & telecommunication, automotive, and retail – which performed well last year and are now well equipped to face the challenges of a local business environment that will be strongly influenced by the persistence of the coronavirus pandemic.
