PayPoint and GLS Romania announce a collaboration agreement

PayPoint Romania, the leading cash payments and electronic top-up operator through retail points in the country, announces a new partnership with GLS Romania, one of the main players in the parcel services market. The company thus strengthens its presence in the parcel services segment, offering an increasing number of consumers the advantages of the national fixed-point delivery system, PayPoint Colet Expres.

The service is available in the PayPoint Colet Expres payment point network, where consumers can send or receive small and medium-sized parcels, weighing up to 10 kg, through GLS Romania.

To send parcels, consumers need to generate a label from the GLS application and then go to the nearest PayPoint Colet Expres store. To benefit from parcel delivery, the consumer must place an order with a GLS partner online merchant and request delivery to a nearby PayPoint Colet Expres store. After the courier from GLS delivers the parcel to the store, the customer receives an email and an SMS with details about collecting the package. To pick it up, the consumer must present an identification document and, if the item has not been prepaid through other payment methods, make a cash payment on delivery.

This service offers consumers a high degree of flexibility as packages can be dropped off or collected according to their own schedule, at an extended network of locations nationwide, often available on weekends as well. Consumers also benefit from various other services in PayPoint Colet Expres partner stores, such as bill payments for utilities, internet, phone, or cable, instalment and insurance payments, electronic top-ups, road tax payments, lottery tickets.

“We are pleased to announce the partnership with GLS, an important player in the parcel services market in Romania. This is a long-awaited partnership through which we diversify the available delivery options for consumers through the PayPoint Colet Expres service. At the same time, this collaboration agreement complements our efforts to consolidate the company’s position in this payment segment. Future plans for PayPoint Colet Expres, where we already work with three important players in the parcel industry, include network expansion and payment portfolio diversification. In line with the company’s overall strategic direction, we aim to strengthen our presence in all segments where we operate.” – Utku Ogrendil, CEO of PayPoint Services Romania.

The PayPoint Colet Expres network currently counts approximately 2,300 locations nationwide and is continuously expanding, with development plans including an expansion to approximately 3,700 partner stores by the end of the current financial year, March 2024.

“This partnership allows us to strengthen our position at the national level in the rapidly growing B2C and C2C segments. Thanks to the extensive PayPoint network, we have even more delivery alternatives for existing customers and those looking for a reliable partner in the parcel industry, offering flexibility and high-quality services.” – Miklos Szoboszlay, Division Manager of GLS Romania.
