Flip.ro’s buyback service is available in all eMAG showrooms

Flip.ro, the young Romanian start-up that encourages circular economy through refurbishing smartphones, which they reintroduce on the market as good as new, continues its partnership with eMAG, which began in 2022 and offers its buyback selling service for used phones in eMAG showrooms across Romania.

Thus, eMAG clients who wish to discard smartphones they no longer use in a sustainable manner, have the possibility of selling them to Flip.ro through their buyback service, directly in the 20 eMAG showrooms in Romania.

In the first trimester of 2023, the number of units sold through buyback has doubled compared to the results of 2022.

For phones sold through buyback on eMAG’s website, clients are offered equivalent value vouchers, instantly, which they can use to buy any product in eMAG’s portfolio.

“According to our data, over half of Romanians who keep phones they no longer use hidden away in their drawers, do so just in case. These phones not only lose their value but, in time, they can become e-waste, endangering the environment. Through our partnership with eMAG, we ensure that we are offering sustainable solutions at hand. Moreover, phones sold to us through buyback have the chance at a second life, once refurbished and reintroduced on the market, closing the sustainable choice and responsible shopping circle”, says Anca Popescu, Chief Supply Officer at Flip.ro.

Flip.ro’s buyback service available online, on eMAG, offers clients who buy any model from the iPhone 14 series a voucher with the value of 350 lei, which they can use when they sell their Apple phones on Flip.ro, through September. Thus, phones unused and hidden away in drawers can become a financial resource. Moreover, each refurbished phone has a carbon footprint that is 63% lower, on average, compared to a new phone.
