FC Rapid continues its transition to Web3: Renewed partnership with Binance

Binance becomes a sponsor on FC Rapid’s football kit today, and the company’s logo and name will appear on the back of the jerseys. The renewal of the partnership with the football club marks a year of an increased company’s impact in Romania, which began with the opening of offices in the country, continued with trading pairs in the local currency, and unique NFTs dedicated to Romanian sports and music.

“Binance wants to provide unique experiences to the supporters, and we will integrate as many innovative activities as possible in our collaboration with FC Rapid. Together, we will launch projects that will help FC Rapid fans connect more with their favorite team,” declares Ilie Pușcaș, Country Manager, Binance.

Rapid, together with Binance, launched a successful collection of free NFTs at the end of the previous football season, from May 2nd to June 30th. Supporters had the chance to win signed jerseys, scarves, VIP seats at Rapid’s matches, and even cryptocurrencies. This was a significant step towards bringing the benefits of Web3 closer to Romanian football fans. The interactions continued at the stadium as well – throughout the previous season, Binance supported a halftime or pre-match contest at most of FC Rapid’s home games.

In the past year, Binance has launched no less than four trading pairs with RON, making it easier for Romanians to buy cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, BUSD, USDT, and EGLD (MultiversX) directly using the local currency. The Binance platform is currently 100% available in Romanian, including its educational component, where Binance Academy helps Romanians learn about cryptocurrencies for free. Additionally, the support system is also available in Romanian, with dozens of Romanian support agents.

In September 2022, Binance also opened a technology center in Iasi, where the company develops globally available products, one of them being Binance Tax.

In May, along with local crypto influencer Daniel Niță, Binance achieved a world record – the most pizzas purchased with one Bitcoin – 10,000, at that time. Thus, Romania has made its mark on the global map of innovation in cryptocurrencies and Web3.
