Romanian entrepreneurs in the cross-border eMAG Marketplace program selling in three countries – Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria – have recorded 40% additional sales in the first half of this year for products activated in these countries, in addition to the sales made for these products in Romania alone.

“We are continuously investing to support Romanian entrepreneurs and give them the confidence that their products can reach the homes of over 35 million people in the three countries. With today’s technology and huge investments in infrastructure over the last two years, we are providing them with programs to help them grow their business across the region, whether it’s increased visibility options, integrated logistics systems or advantageous delivery options. The accelerated growth of the 5,000 Romanian entrepreneurs on eMAG Marketplace shows that this is the easiest way to grow and an inspiration for any business, at any stage,” said Stejara Pircan, senior VP eMAG.

Cross-border programme: translation for 5 million products with AI and cost-free synchronisation of stock and prices

Launched almost two years ago, the cross-border programme, which facilitates sellers’ access to neighbouring markets in Hungary and Bulgaria, has been constantly enhanced with new functionalities. Translation into two other languages for products to be sold in a market other than the home market at no extra cost is one of them. In the last year, with the help of technology and artificial intelligence, 5 million products have benefited from faster translation through the regional cross-border programme. In addition to translation, products listed by sellers also benefit from automatic price conversion into local currencies, as well as stock and price synchronisation options across platforms.

25 million investment this year to support sellers selling regionally in three countries

This year, eMAG’s investments in supporting sellers selling cross-border amount to 25 million lei and are mainly targeted at delivery. These investments are part of eMAG’s long-term plan to help sellers grow in the region and respond to new shopping habits of people who prefer flexible delivery.

At the same time, starting this spring, eMAG has developed the Fulfilment by eMAG (FBE) cross-border programme, giving sellers the possibility to deliver directly from the warehouse in Romania to Hungary and Bulgaria at the same costs. eMAG takes care of all logistics, from reception, storage, picking, packing, delivery, customer relations or return via the FBE service. The number of products included in the FBE programme has increased by more than 45% in the last year and eligible items are also included in the Genius programme with fast delivery and exclusive offers.
