PM Victor Ponta, interim minister of Finances, proposed Enache Jiru, state secretary in the Ministry of Finances, to head CEC Bank in place of Radu Ghetea.

Enache Jiru started his career at the Central bank, where he worked in the Administrative Department of International Reserves. Starting with 1998, Jiru held public and private leadership positions. He has worked at CEC Bank before, as vicepresident between 2000 and 2011, but also as president of the bank between the autumn of 2004 and march 2005.

Furthermore, Ponta will propose that CEC Bank should be placed under a double management, with a Supervision Council and a Directorate.

Daniel Chitoiu, former minister of Finances, met with Ponta at the Government on Monday. The same day, the PM declared that he will not be personally responsible for appointing a new CEC leader, but rather he will conclude a procedure that was initiated by Daniel Chitoiu.

“I’ve never talked to mister Ghetea. I can’t and I do not wish to break any laws, I don’t fire or appoint people in position. I only approve a procedure started by mister Chitoiu: that of a dual leadership in CEC, like there is in other banks and societies, after which the shareholders and the board members will designate the new bank managers”, Ponta clarified.
