The Chancellery of the Prime Minister announces the start of a national tour of regional conferences within the CIRCULARIO accelerator, organized in partnership with PIVOT-C, a strategic effort to promote and implement the circular economy in Romania. The opening event takes place today, April 1, 2024, in Brașov, bringing together essential actors for the circular ecosystem from the counties of Brașov, Mureș, Covasna and Harghita.

This initiative aims to unite public administrations, both central and local, industries, startups, academia and research, as well as representatives from the private sector and financing and lending institutions, in a common mission to identify and implement sustainable solutions adapted to Romania’s needs.

Romania demonstrates its firm commitment to adopting the principles of the circular economy, a commitment materialized through the development and implementation of the Action Plan for the Circular Economy, launched in 2023. This plan includes 52 strategic actions and is supported by a solid governance framework, highlighting the importance of the transition to sustainable practices and alignment with the objectives of the European Union for a green and efficient economy.

“By supporting and being involved in the organization of the CIRCULARIO series of conferences, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister reaffirms its commitment to the transition to a circular economy. These regional meetings are an essential first step to strengthen the collaboration between all the actors involved and to accelerate Romania’s transition towards a circular economy, in line with the objectives of the European Union. It is essential to establish a common language on the circular economy and to identify the specific needs, available opportunities and those innovative leaders willing to embrace and promote its principles. We aim to change the paradigm from consumption to the creation of sustainable value, an essential obligation for our common future,” said Mihaela Frasineanu, state adviser in the Prime Minister’s Chancellery.

For her part, Andreea Nicolae, Managing Partner at PIVOT-C, said: “We are honored to collaborate with the Chancellery of the Prime Minister in this ambitious project. CIRCULARIO responds directly to Romania’s need to quickly adopt the principles of the circular economy. This accelerator is essential now, when we need to turn vision into concrete action. It addresses our challenges in resource management, promoting innovative projects and collaboration between stakeholders in the circular ecosystem.”

The CIRCULARIO national tour will continue with events in nine other cities in Romania, each conference being a unique opportunity to strengthen collaboration and promote innovative circular economy solutions at the local and national level.
