Lidl Romania is consolidating its position as one of the best employers and, for the fifth time in a row, gets the Top Employer certification, granted by the independent institute Top Employers in the Netherlands. The company recorded maximum scores and almost maximum scores on 4 of the evaluated categories – Leadership (100%), Sustainability (99%), Ethics and Integrity (98%) and Employer Brand (98%). Moreover, this year too, Lidl obtained this certification at European level.
The Top Employer 2021 Certification was awarded following a rigorous analysis by the independent institute Top Employers in the Netherlands and recognizes the company’s performance as an employer. Companies that are certified as Top Employers are committed to placing their employees at the center of their corporate activities and offering them an outstanding working environment. This year, following the audit, Lidl obtained maximum and close to maximum scores in several categories. The score of 100% was obtained at the Leadership indicator, which attests the importance of human resources policies and strategies in the overall strategy of the company.
Lidl obtained an almost maximum score, of 99%, on the Sustainability indicator, which analyzes the way the company integrates the principles of sustainability, including the practices and processes of human resources. Sustainability is in the DNA of Lidl’s business, and the company constantly optimizes its business processes – from those related to the product range, to logistics or retail expansion – in order to have the least possible impact on the environment. Moreover, Lidl is constantly involved in solving the problems in the communities to which it belongs, by investing in long-term programs, together with the society, in the areas of education, environment and emergency services. The obtained score demonstrates the company’s continuous efforts towards sustainable development, contributing to a better future not only for the company as a whole, but also for all its employees, through continuous investments in professional development opportunities, competitive compensation packages and annually revised benefits, but also in creating the best working conditions.
Regarding the Ethics and Integrity indicator, Lidl obtained a score of 98%. The result confirms the responsibility that Lidl assumes towards employees, respecting the rights like remuneration, work schedule and offering equal opportunities to all team members, regardless of sex, age, nationality or belonging to a certain social group.
Exceptional results were also recorded in the Employer Brand category, where Lidl obtained a score of 98%. Over time, the company has constantly improved its recruitment and selection strategy, focusing on the experience offered to candidates, from the application stage to the actual employment. In addition, in order to attract the most suitable talent in the company, Lidl has consistently adapted its HR policies and processes to the market context – for example through the strong presence of the brand on social networks and beyond. Top Employer certification is offered according to a rigorous audit process of the company’s organizational framework. There are analyzed the employers’ human resources practices, based on 20 evaluation criteria, structured in 6 categories, like resources’ management strategy, the work environment, the recruiting process, or the development opportunities offered to the employees.
