Philip Morris Romania has been awarded the Top Employer certification for the tenth consecutive year, marking a decade of excellence in human resources practices. This recognition positions PMI among the most desirable employers, focusing on meeting the diverse needs of a global workforce.

The Top Employer certification is the result of an independent assessment conducted by the Top Employers Institute, which also recognizes Philip Morris International as a Global Top Employer for the eighth consecutive year. PMI subsidiaries in 31 other countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia/Pacific have also been acknowledged as top employers.

“When you work with people, you can’t just focus on overarching objectives—people have emotions, needs, and energy, and all of these factors cannot be ignored. This certification not only honors us but also emphasizes once again that top employers are companies that treat their colleagues with respect, recognizing their merits, qualities, and commitment. PMI has announced an additional investment of over $130 million in 2024, and this investment offers a positive outlook not only for the development of our factory in Otopeni but also for attracting new talent to our organization. The passion, dedication, and talent of our employees enable and accelerate our company’s transition to a smoke-free Romania,” said Luminița Florea, Director People & Culture.

The Top Employers Institute program certifies organizations based on participation and the results of the HR Best Practice Survey, covering six HR domains encompassing 20 topics, including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Attraction, Learning, Diversity & Inclusion, Well-being, and more.

David Plink, CEO of the Top Employers Institute, said, “Extraordinary times bring out the best in people and organizations. We’ve seen this in our Top Employers certification program this year, with exceptional performance from certified top employers in 2024. In this community of remarkable organizations, Philip Morris International has demonstrated its commitment to employees on a global scale. This consistency in global HR practices characterizes an exclusive group of companies that have earned global certification through the Top Employers program. We are proud to announce and celebrate these companies and their achievements in 2024.”

Philip Morris International, a company with over 79,000 employees worldwide, is one of the 15 international organizations to receive the Global Top Employer distinction this year.

“It is an extraordinary achievement to be recognized as a Global Top Employer for the eighth consecutive year, and our team is extremely proud,” said Fred Patitucci, Chief People & Culture Officer. “PMI is no longer a company undergoing transformation—it has already transformed. But our journey is not over; we continue to take PMI to the next level in our mission toward a smoke-free future. The realization of our ambitious vision can only be achieved through the commitment and dedication of our employees, and I want to thank everyone involved; this has been and continues to be a team effort!”
