Opus Land Development will invest approximately EUR 50 million this year in the construction of about 500 new homes in Cosmopolis, the largest residential project from Romania, as well as in the development of new facilities and in the project’s general infrastructure. Thus, the total investment undertaken in Cosmopolis’ development will exceed EUR 400 million, this being one of the biggest investments in a real estate project from Romania, regardless of the market segment.

The EUR 50 million investment budgeted for 2023 in the development of Cosmopolis is the biggest annual investment realised by Opus Land since the start of the construction, in 2007.

The extension of Cosmopolis Plaza, the strip mall within the project, will be completed in the second part of the year. Thus, the shopping centre will reach 20,000 square meters, a surface similar to that of a commercial gallery and a large hypermarket, which will translate into approximately 50 new stores. In addition, a Lidl store was opened last year in Cosmopolis Plaza, Lidl becoming thus one of the few large retailers with a shop in a local residential project.

Also this year will be inaugurated in the project a Sweat wellness club, which, with a surface of 2,500 square meters, will be the biggest centre in Sweat’s network located in Romania. The new wellness club will include a semi-olympic indoor pool, a SPA and an area dedicated to entertainment and shopping of sport articles.

”We recently celebrated 15 years since the beginning of Cosmopolis, a period during which we managed to build a city in itself, the first city built in Romania in the last decades. Cosmopolis is not only a suite of blocks but also includes all the facilities and functions specific to a city and we want, and we will further expand their list”, stated Ozan Tuncer, CEO Cosmopolis.

Over 5,100 apartments and villas were completed so far in Cosmopolis, the community numbering already approximately 14,000 residents. The continuous development of Cosmopolis will lead the project to about 5,600 completed homes at the end of this year and a community of approximately 15,000 residents, after total investments of over EUR 430 millions.

”We continue to identify and propose the best solutions  in the projects where we are involved, whether are talking about new social functions, facilities or technological innovations. The development of Cosmopolis will continue in 2023 and in the years to come, for at least another decade, after which the city Cosmopolis will reach similar dimensions to those of cities such as Curtea de Arges or Sighisoara”, stated Gabriel Voicu, vicepresident SVN Romania and project manager Cosmopolis on behalf of the company.

Additional to the strip mall, among the existing facilities existing in Cosmopolis are two kindergartens and a primary school, four parks, a private beach on the nearby lake, 50 outdoor pools, several children playgrounds, numerous restaurants and cafes, and a fully equipped gym, football, and tennis fields, 24h/24h security services within the projects and transport services, on a subscription basis, to Pipera and Aurel Vlaicu metro stations. In addition, the chapel of the Cosmopolis Orthodox parish was recently consecrated, while the works on the foundation of the church within the project are undergoing.

The development of the project is carried out according to a carefully planned long-term vision, being expected to continue until at least 2033, when Cosmopolis is estimated to include over 12,000 homes and a community of approximately 30,000 inhabitants.

SVN Romania is one of the most important real estate consultants active on the Romanian market and the leader of the residential segment. The company also operates three regional offices, in Brasov, Cluj – Napoca and Covasna, and is the consultant and exclusive agent of over 15 residential projects located in Bucharest and in the country. SVN International Corp has over 200 offices in eight countries and regions, with over 2,000 consultants and staff.
