A local Combat Training Center will be built in Cincu, a commune in Romania’s Brasov county, with a USD 1 million sponsorship from the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) at the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest.

The Romanian Minister of Defense, Corneliu Dobritoiu, the Chief of Romanian Land Forces, Sorin Ioan, and U.S. Ambassador Mark Gitenstein will participate at the ground breaking ceremony for the site.

The Romanian Combat Training Center is set to be a world-class training center providing combined arms training capabilities.  The construction project will be used to upgrade infrastructure at the base.

While in Cincu, minister Dobritoiu, Sorin Ioan and ambassador Gitenstein will also participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the renovation of Cincu medical clinic which provides services to 3000 local residents.  Through the Office of Defense Cooperation, the European Command Humanitarian Assistance program has provided USD 92,000 to refurbish the clinic.
