Diehl Controls, part of Diehl Group, celebrated today the groundbreaking ceremony for its new plant in  CTPark Brasov, 2023. Production will start in mid-2024 and by 2027, approximately 600 employees will manufacture up to twelve million electronic systems annually.

Cutting-edge technology from Braşov for the world market

Diehl Controls is part of the globally active Diehl Group and is headquartered in Wangen in southern Germany. With more than 3,500 employees worldwide, the company develops and manufactures electronic systems and circuits for white goods, i.e. washing machines, dishwashers, or refrigerators, as well as for HVAC/R systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration technology) or battery management systems (BMS). The groundbreaking ceremony for the new production plant in Braşov took place on September 5, 2023. There, Diehl Controls Romania will produce up to twelve million electronic systems annually by the end of 2027, including for heat pumps. According to company officials, another focus will be the production of IATF-standardized (International Automotive Task Force) electronic systems for the automotive industry.

Up to 600 highly qualified workers wanted

In addition to Wangen im Allgäu and Namysłów in Poland, Braşov becomes the third production site in Europe for Diehl Controls. With this plant, the company is expanding its leading position on the European and global market. Braşov was chosen, among other reasons, because the city in historic Transylvania benefits of avery good infrastructure and Romania, as part of the EU, enjoys solid stability both economically and politically. Above all, Diehl Controls was convinced by the highly qualified training on site, which is realized via a dual training system. By the end of 2027, Diehl Controls Romania plans to hire between 500 and 600 people. The company is looking for a variety of workers, ranging from employees for production and engineers for research and development to employees with a business management background. By the time production starts in summer 2024, more than 100 employees will have been trained and will primarily be deployed in production. Their training will take place in advance at the production site in Poland, offering an excellent learning opportunity

Investment of 40 million euros in the production plant on Bulevardul Griviței

Over the period of 10 years, the project participants will invest around 40 million euros in the 18,000 square metre plant in the north of Braşov. The site at BulevardulGriviței covers more than 125,800 square meters and is located directly in the industrial area not far from the city center. As soon as a corresponding bridge has been built over the railroad line, the plant will be easily accessible on foot or by bicycle from the nearby residential area.

“Today’s groundbreaking marks the beginning of a new chapter for Braşov as an industrial location. A chapter that we want to write successfully together with the city and the region. By the time production starts in mid-2024, we will not only construct a sustainable building with a solid infrastructure together with our project partner CTP but also hire more than 100 highly qualified employees,” says Josef Fellner, CFO of Diehl Controls.

On site, Diehl Controls works together with the project developer CTP Romania, which builds the plant according to the individual technical, commercial and legal requirements and then leases it to Diehl Controls Romania. Innovative production facilities and state-of-the-art office equipment are standard, as is complete air conditioning for all premises. The buildings will be highly efficiently insulated and equipped with photovoltaic systems on the roof. Heat pumps are planned for CO2-neutral heating. In addition to the approximately 50 invited guests, Diehl Controls board members Josef Fellner and Dirk Fricke were present at the groundbreaking ceremony, as well as the mayor of Brasov Allen Coliban.
