Romanian dairy producer Albalact has reported a turnover of about RON 246 million (approximately EUR 57 million) for the first three quarters of this year, marking a 34.3 percent increase compared to the same period of last year.
The producer’s profit has also increased by 46.85 percent to RON 3.5 million (approximately EUR 0.8 million) between January and September.
The Romanian dairy market continues to be under the pressure from prices, a raw materials crisis and the overall decline of consumption and purchasing power, said Raul Ciurtin, president and managing director of Albalact. “This year we have invested considerable resources into launching new products and new communication campaigns but have also made great efforts reduce costs in order to remain profitable. Growing the business and gaining additional market share continues to be a priority but we want to remain profitable,” he explained.
By the end of this year, Albalact estimates that it will finish investments in the production lines at its factories in Oiejdea and Raraul in order to be able to add new products to its portfolio in the future, added Ciurtin. “The dairy market still has segments with great perspectives for growth and we want to take advantage of these opportunities,” he concluded.
Albalact has recently invested EUR 0.3 million in the promotion of the Zuzu yoghurts. The company is the third local dairy producer according to its data and owns the Fulga, Zuzu, De Albalact and Raraul brands.
