The Bucharest branch of BNP Paribas Personal Finance Paris, with its Cetelem trademark, started the program “Mastercard – Pay in Instalments” in July of this year. Cetelem is implementing a new facility that meets consumers’ needs and targets its entire portfolio of cards. Cardholders will be able to opt for instalments in all the shops enrolled in the program. Users will benefit from expanded purchasing power, flexibility in terms of payment method, and better control of spending and finances.

Traders will also have tangible benefits from implementing the new installment payment program, Mastercard – Payment in Rates allowing both new and existing customers to program their payment cycle.

“At present, the credit card is one of Cetelem’s most important products and we want to preserve its popularity in the future. The new Mastercard – Pay in Instalments program offers consumers the opportunity to pay their personal purchases in monthly instalments rather than in a fixed amount paid at the time of purchase. Users can choose to pay in 3 interest-free instalments or 10/12 rates at an advantageous interest rate. With the implementation of this new program, we estimate an increase in the number of new customers and a noticeably increased usage rates. The principle of responsibility lies at the heart of our organizational culture. We are a responsible partner that protects its clients’ budgets and guides them in preventing excesses. This principle will continue to guide us in the future, “said Laurent Claudel, Deputy General Manager Commercial and Operations Division, BNP Paribas Personal Finance SA Paris Branch Bucharest.

“Mastercard – Pay in Instalments” was launched by Mastercard in Romania in its world premiere in November 2016 in order to democratize rates offered directly to traders. We are glad to welcome them to the nearly half a million Mastercard Cetelem card holders in our extensive Mastercard payment scheme – Pay in Instalments and we invite them to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of the solution, “said Cosmin Vladimirescu, country manager at Mastercard Romania.

Starting July this year, Cetelem credit card users can choose any of the stores in Romania that display the Mastercard – Pay in Instalments, even those that are not Cetelem partners. At the same time, Cetelem customers can also benefit from payment rates agreed with partner stores.

“Our focus is further on innovation and to provide our customers with experiences to help them manage their budgets responsibly. We continue to invest in the product by constantly adding new facilities to increase comfort and security in use. At the same time, we continue to advise our clients on the use of credit cards and we always seek to make their experience as easy as possible “, added Laurent Claudel, deputy general Manager Commercial and Operations Division, BNP Paribas Personal Finance SA Paris Branch Bucharest.

With more than 470,000 credit cards in its portfolio, Cetelem is currently the third largest credit card issuer in Romania.
