Mastercard Tuesday: A new program by Mastercard Romania that offers guaranteed cashback for cardholders

Mastercard is launching the Mastercard Tuesday program, starting from January 16th. All eligible Mastercard cardholders with cards issued in Romania can enjoy cashback for eligible purchases made every Tuesday in certain selected industries.

A recent survey commissioned by Mastercard reveals that Tuesdays are characterized by low mood and energy levels, and shopping is an efficient way to lift one’s spirit. Thus, 54% of respondents state that purchases make them feel better on less favorable days, and 91% of Romanians acknowledge that various benefits at their favorite merchants would help improve their mood on low morale days. The Mastercard Tuesday program addresses this need by offering Mastercard cardholders a 10% cashback on card payments enrolled in the program, up to a limit of 50 RON. There is no minimum or maximum transaction value.

“The day of the week with fewer transactions recorded in Romania coincides with the day when Romanians often feel uninspired or low on energy. This is Tuesday, which we have set out to transform this year into Mastercard Tuesday – a day when we encourage Romanians to use their Mastercard even more to fulfill their wishes, pay their dues, or to bring a smile to someone dear. The debut campaign of the Mastercard Tuesday platform will focus on payments for taxes, fees, and bills; on this occasion, we are pleased to announce that the Ghișeul.ro platform has exceeded the threshold of 2 million active users at the beginning of this year. Thus, by the end of March, Romanians can pay their taxes and fees anytime, anywhere, and enjoy financial benefits when paying by card,“ said Cosmin Vladimirescu, General Manager Mastercard Romania and Croatia.

The program includes transactions made on Tuesdays between January 16 and December 31, 2024, and consists of four campaigns: January 16 – March 26 – Days dedicated to taxes, duties, and bill payments, April 2 – June 25 – Days for shopping at convenience stores and supermarkets, July 2 – September 24 – Days dedicated to payments made at physical locations outside Romania, and October 1 – December 31 – Days dedicated to online payments.

The program includes all bank issuers in Mastercard’s portfolio in Romania, and all eligible Mastercard cardholders* can access the benefits for free by enrolling their card at priceless.com/marti. After enrolling the card and receiving the confirmation of enrollment on the platform, cashback is automatically applied to the enrolled card for transactions made on Tuesdays during the campaign, within selected industries, up to a limit of 50 RON per transaction. There is no need to register the card for each campaign separately; once enrolled, cardholders will be able to automatically participate in all 4 campaigns within the program.
