Romanian Simona Halep wins WTA Tournament of Champions title

Simona Halep won the title from the Garanti Koza WTA Tournament of Champions with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Samantha Stosur, transforming this title in an incredibly successful season for the Romanian.

Halep won six trophies in 2013, second only to Serena Williams. Moreover, during this competition, Halep suffered from a muscle strain in her left leg, but still managed to survive the final battle in Arena Armeec.

The Romanian tennis star, who won USD 270,000 for the title, now ranks 11th in the WTA rankings, up from 14th place.
