Dan Sandu, the 45 year old banker that’s been in charge of Nextebank’s restructuring in the last four years, will occupy a newly-created position of prime-vice president for Volksbank, another bank currently undergoing a vast restructuring process in order to sale its assets by the end of 2015.

Sources in the banking world said that Sandu will be responsible with consolidating Volksbank as a viable investment opportunity to a potential buyer. Since last autumn, Dan Sandu was considered the main candidate to hire as CEC Bank’s new president. For his new position at Volksbank, Sandu will be Beoint Catel’s second in command.

Dan Sandu has been working in the banking sector since 1990 when he was hired in BNR’s Protocol Department shortly after Mugur Isarescu became governor. He worked his way up, to the position of chief dealer. in 1995 he was recruited by Citibank, and in 1998 he was promoted to vicepresident.

In 2006 he leaves Citi for Millennium Bank. The portuguese bank was hit hard by the crisis so in 2009, Sandu lands at Romexterra MKB (turned into Nextebank).
