During Business Review’s recent re:FOCUS on eCommerce, Retail & Logistics 2022, Jarosław Śliwa, CEO Cargus Romania, explored, together with his co-panelists, the future of the courier industry, in which innovative and paper-free online shopping and delivery solutions will be commonplace thanks to the efforts that are being made today, such as developing the first solution for contactless delivery in Romania.

Cargus is the oldest company in Romania, with 13 years of experience in transport and logistics, and as a CEO with fresh ideas, Jarosław Śliwa shared his perspective and objectives for 2022: “My objective in 2022 is related to macro-situations, given that inflation will impact all the costs we have, including wages, but also the cost of the products people buy. But we, at Cargus, have the privilege and the opportunity to have an optimist mindset regarding the future. We want to be the most convenient choice for customers who are oriented to eCommerce, and we go by the saying your needs, our solution, which has been visible in the last few years.”

Regarding the things that Cargus’ customers value most, Śliwa gave us a complex image about the expectations and how the company meets its customers’ needs:

“What matters the most for them is predictability and time, so in 2022 our focus will be to develop out-of-home solutions, because we want our customers to have more comfort. Technology plays a key part in this and I’m very proud to share that we have developed the first contactless delivery solution in the country, meaning that every customer can pay by card wherever he is, thanks to a great collaboration with Alpha Bank. Another innovative solution is Pay by link through an app dedicated to customers who don’t have a credit card but want to pay online. We understood that the courier has those 15 magic seconds when he represents the seller, so the entire selling process has some important actions. Overall, our focus is to provide to customers maximum information and convenience, so in the application made for customers we created some features that give them more flexibility: they can redirect, choose a delivery time slot, choose door-to-door delivery or to a neighbor.”

But in Romania, this future is lagging behind, and Jarosław Śliwa admitted: “We’ve had some limitations as well, related to local legislation and other things, and we keep on hold projects when we want to fully digitalize paperwork. We could be ready even tomorrow to stop printing any documents for customers, any invoice, any confirmation because we have everything digitalized, but there are some challenges. Yet, we are going in the direction of offering customers maximum convenience, including the application, with accessibility with two or three clicks, with all the information needed.”
