Dr. Christian von Albrichsfeld, Continental Automotive: We saw that all the projects presented represent our values

Attending the BR Awards, Dr. Christian von Albrichsfeld, General Manager at Continental Automotive Romania, member of the jury, showed that the candidates were from very diverse fields, but it was even more interesting to see how each one excelled in their industry. Of course, choosing the winners was more difficult this way. 

“It was a very difficult choice for us. We saw that all the projects presented represent our values. How to be a good citizen, how to take Romania forward, how to have an impact in society, how to make a business, how to be more sustainable – these are all things that we ask ourselves every day and that’s why we chose the projects that showed all these things… But the most important thing was also that each one came from a totally different field, from industry to jewellery to services – they were from a very wide range and each one did very interesting things in each field. That’s why it was really hard to choose the winners.

In 2024, there are opportunities, but we also see challenges. Inflation is going down, which is a good thing. On the other hand, we have also seen a lot of promise. There are four rounds of political elections in Romania, we have elections in Europe and the US and many other places in the world, and things can change very quickly. We also have a difficult global situation with a war going on. These are things that come with additional challenges. So it’s very important that business is very agile, can react quickly to these challenges. What we see in Romania we see all over the world and it can be a big challenge for all of us, with a lot of promises in elections, and we have to see what comes from the political environment. What we have to have is predictability and an environment in which we can develop business and the economy in general.

What we need to see is that in the last 20 years, Romania has grown the most as an economy in Europe. GDP has grown eight times, that’s a very important point. There are a lot of opportunities because we are not yet where the rest of Europe is and there is more we can do. That’s why those who want to do something have opportunities in Romania. And it’s also a signal for people who are thinking of going to another country in Europe; there things are very stable, changes and development are much less than here. In Romania we have the opportunity to do much more.”
