High schoolers may hone up their oratorical and English skills at debate classes

Debate @British is a new concept developed by British Council Romania, lining up to a tradition already existent in Great Britain for curricular and extracurricular activities. Classes are held by trainers certified by the Romanian Association for Debate, ARDOR Muntenia, specialized in debate competitions, at the British Council in Calea Dorobantilor 14.

The classes will start on 26 January 2011 and will last until 8 April 2011. During January and April there will be two beginners’ classes of 14 students each. The classes will be held on Wednesdays and Fridays. When registering, one can opt for one of the two timetable options: 9.00 – 11.00 or 18.00 – 20.00.

Debate @British is dedicated to high school students who aim to master various argumentation techniques, to develop their public speaking skills and to improve their English knowledge through conversation. The course will consist of 44 hours, structured in two-hour sessions, twice a week which will take place at the British Council on Calea Dorobantilor 14. The cost for the course is RON 1,100.

Some criteria must be met in order to be admitted to these classes, as good English knowledge and passion for debate. More information is available on the British Council website.
