Romtelecom buys Muvix.ro platform from Mediafax Group

Telecom operator Romtelecom has bought from Mediafax Group the video-on-demand platform Muvix.ro, with more than 10,000 clients, announced Orlando Nicoara, general manager of Mediafax Group on his blog.

The Muvix service was launched 3 years ago and it was “the first service of this type launched in the .ro domain,” said Nicoara.

“For Mediafax Group, this is a normal step, of using our limited resources on the shrinking media market for activities of print/online/news and ecommerce. We made an exit from this business because online video is extremely expensive and the market is just taking shape, which means permanent investments are required, especially after players like CME or Romtelecomm have invested in similar services,” said Nicoara.

In the first stage, Romtelecom will take over the content from Muvix, while the integration of Muvix.ro in Dolcetv.ro will happen over the next 6 months.
