Uber has announced that it would increase fares in Bucharest during peak traffic hours, saying that this would encourage more drivers to work during the most congested periods, when there is also high demand for Uber rides. On the other hand, Bolt (formerly called Taxify), notified its customers on Monday that it would cut peak hour rates in Bucharest by 15 percent.
The peak hours established by Uber are:
- Monday-Friday, 7 AM – 10 AM
- Monday-Thursday, 4 PM – 7 PM
- Friday, 1 PM – 7 PM
In these timeframes, the UberX base fare will increase from RON 1.3/km and RON 0.22/minute to RON 1.56/km and RON 0.26/minute. The minimum cost of a ride will grow from RON 10 to 12.
For UberSelect or UberGreen, base fares will increase from RON 1.65/km and RON 0.28/minute to RON 1.98/km and RON 0.34/minute. The minimum cost will go from RON 12 to 14.4.
Meanwhile, Uber’s rival Bolt notified its customers that starting on Monday, May 6, peak hour rides would be 15 percent cheaper.
