Romania enters the finals of Eurovision 2012

Mandinga, the band representing Romania to the Eurovision 2012, has entered the finals of the international song contest, despite technical problems experienced during last night’s performance by Elena, the band’s vocalist. The final contest will take place on May 24.

Zaleilah, the song presented on stage for Eurovision 2012 is a unique juxtaposition of Cuban and Romanian sounds. “Mandinga brings the Latin beat to Baku” is the description that the Romanian band received from Eurovision organizers.

Mandinga consists of 7 members: Elena (lead vocals), Alex (trumpet), Chupi (drums), El Niño (congas), Omar (piano), Zach (saxophone) and Tony (trombone).

At the press conference following yesterday’s performance, Mandinga said they aim to be in the top five, “and after last night’s performance, we are sure that we will enter this top.”
