Government invests EUR 72 million in modernizing the Constanta and Oradea airports

The Ministry of Transports has signed a modernization project for the Mihail Kogalniceanu airport in Constanta and announced plans to attract EU funds to also modernize the airport in Oradea. Overall, EUR 72 million will be invested in upgrading the two airports, half of which will be EU funds.

The infrastructure of the Mihail Kogalniceanu airport in Constanta will be modernized following an investment of EUR 40 million, EUR 18 million of which comes from EU funds, according to the ministry. The project should be finalized by March 2014.

Also, the ministry has agreed to invest EUR 32 million (EUR 18 million coming from EU funds) to modernize and extend the Oradea airport. The project will include the building of a new runway and the refurbishment if the existing one.
