Today, June 3, 2024, LOT Polish Airlines officially launched a direct flight between the cities of Oradea and Warsaw. This new route offers numerous benefits to the region, facilitating both business and leisure travel to Poland’s capital and other international destinations, contributing to trade development and attracting investments. Additionally, this connection will enhance the mobility of residents in Oradea and the surrounding areas, including Bihor and beyond, providing new international travel opportunities across Europe, Asia, and North America.

LOT will operate four weekly flights between Oradea and Warsaw, scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. This regular frequency will allow travelers to easily plan their trips, including connections from Warsaw to other destinations, whether for business or tourism. For example, from Oradea, one can reach Rome with a stopover in Warsaw in four and a half hours, Berlin and Munich in five hours or less, and Paris in just six hours.

Passengers who arrived on flight LO657 received a special welcome in Oradea, in a festive setting full of surprises. Upon landing, they were greeted with the traditional water cannon salute, marking this special moment. Later, passengers who boarded flight LO658 to Warsaw were welcomed with personalized sweets and champagne, to complete the pleasant memory of the experience offered.

The launching event organized at Oradea Airport was marked by the presence of the Oradea State Philharmonic, which performed compositions by the famous Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, thus paying homage to the cultural connection between Romania and Poland.

The event partners were: Piața9, Rewine, Rivo Restaurant, Oradea Heritage, and OTL.

Recently, Oradea Airport was expanded with a new terminal, which was inaugurated in May. As part of the project “Expansion and Optimization of Passenger Terminal No.1 of Oradea Airport”:

  • The terminal area was expanded to 12,500 square meters;
  • The airport’s service capacity was doubled, reaching 800 passengers per hour;
  • Digital systems were introduced to facilitate the processing of passengers and their luggage;
  • An intelligent building management system was implemented;
  • The parking platform was expanded to 320 parking spaces.
