Centrum food supplements taken off Romanian shelves

The Centrum food supplement is no longer available in Romanian drugstores. A Pfizer spokesperson cited by the www.irishcentral.com site said that at the beginning of September, Pfizer began a voluntary withdrawal of Centrum food supplements from retail shelves in the European region because of a labeling issue.

Centrum contains soybean oil, but the product packaging did not indicate it may have come from genetically modified soybeans. Product shipments are expected to resume towards the end of October. “There is no safety issue with the Centrum range of products. This voluntary action ensures consumers can’t access incorrectly labeled product”, said the spokesperson.

Centrum is produced by American drug manufacturer Wyeth which was taken over a year ago by Pfizer following a deal estimated at USD 68 billion.
