The sculpture Une Muse by Constantin Brancusi is one of the main pieces in a modernist and impressionist art auction organized by New York’s auction house Christie’s on November 7. The piece has an estimated price of USD 10 -15 million.
Other works that are being auctioned at the November 7 event belong to Alberto Giacometti, Henry Moore, Jacques Lipschitz, Marc Chagall, Emil Nolde and Lyonel Feininger. The total value of works expected to be sold is estimated to reach more than USD 250 million.
Une Muse is one of Brancusi’s first works displayed in the US. Finished in 1912, the work represents the shapes of a woman’s head. It went on display ay the inaugural edition of The Armory Show in 1913 in New York.
Prométhée, a bronze work by Romanian artist Constantin Brancusi, sold for more than USD 12.6 million earlier this year in New York during a bidding organized by Sotheby’s.
