Dhiraj Mukherjee, co-founder of Shazam and one of the pioneers of modern technology, will be present as Star Speaker at the first business summit that will open Bucharest Tech Week 2024, a flagship event that transforms the city into the epicenter of technological innovation. With extensive experience in tech and a bold vision of its impact on society, Mukherjee’s session will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to understand the key to reinventing business and achieving sustainable results through technology and innovation.

In 2000, Dhiraj Mukherjee founded Shazam Entertainment, the first mobile music recognition service, a remarkable technological innovation that, at the time, changed the way users interact with music. Shazam was acquired by Apple in 2018 for about $400 million. In 2015 Mukherjee was named one of Europe’s top 50 tech entrepreneurs by the Financial Times, and is globally recognised as a mentor in innovation, entrepreneurship and technology.

After the resounding success of Shazam, Dhiraj has focused on supporting emerging entrepreneurs and investing in start-ups that promote sustainability and social impact. He currently has investments in over 250 cutting-edge startups in AI, climate tech and other emerging technologies, such as Beam (dedicated to supporting the homeless), Erase All Kittens (helping girls develop coding skills), Jamma (supporting immigrants), Coursematch (EdTech) and more.

Through his professional work, Mukherjee focuses all his efforts on Generation Z and the impact of young entrepreneurs in creating a better society. Prior to his entrepreneurial journey, Dhiraj worked in senior positions in banking innovation, such as Head of Banking Innovation at Virgin Money, in media and entertainment and in the charity sector, where he set up digital services for students in the UK.

“From my time at Shazam, I learned everything about building an organization, from the initial idea, to a global brand with over 2 billion downloads, and what it means to grow explosively and build an adaptable company. At Bucharest Tech Week I will share with you the lessons learned – about having big dreams, leading and learning at the same time, and staying adaptable throughout this journey,” said Dhiraj Mukherjee.

Dhiraj Mukherjee will be present on Innovation Summit stage on June 10, the first day of the event, where he will present his vision of how today’s leaders can transform their organisations by embracing uncertainty. In addition, Mukherjee will offer a fresh perspective on how entrepreneurs can excel in uncharted areas and how they can redefine both their role as leaders and the direction of their businesses. At the same time, attendees will have the unique opportunity to learn directly from one of the pioneers of the tech industry, with decades of industry experience, proven methods and best practices for building a strong industry footprint.

The eighth edition of Bucharest Tech Week 2024 will take place from 10-16 June, with over 25,000 tech enthusiasts expected to attend. The first 5 days will be dedicated to Business Summits (Innovation Summit, Future Summit: AI, HR Masters Summit, Software Architecture Summit and Java Stars Summit), a meeting point for the brightest minds in technology, innovation and local business professionals. The week concludes with Tech Expo, the only tech expo dedicated to the general public, where tech enthusiasts can test drive the latest gadgets, devices, Smart Home equipment, electric and hybrid cars, urban mobility vehicles and more.

Participation in any of the 5 Business Summits (10-14 June) is based on a ticket that can be purchased directly on  https://www.techweek.ro/business-summits.

Participation in the Tech Expo (14-16 June) is FREE for all persons over 18 years old, with prior registration on  https://www.techexpo.ro/.
