Daikin, a market leader in heat pump technology, with over 90 years of experience in designing and manufacturing innovative heating and cooling technologies, expands its range of systems with Altherma 3 H MT, the new medium-temperature hydro-split heat pump available in 16 markets in Central and Eastern Europe. Designed to primarily replace fossil fuel or gas boilers in homes built in the 1990s, where fossil fuel heating systems are still very common, the Altherma 3 H MT is also ideal for heating new residential buildings.

An investment in comfort and energy savings, the new Altherma 3 H MT air-to-water heat pump provides instant heating, cooling, and hot water, using less energy. Equipped with innovative technologies for quiet operation, the pump is ideal for homeowners who want to modernize their boiler or traditional heating system using a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution.

Altherma 3 H MT comes as a range extension for Daikin Altherma 3 H HT and is a step forward in our mission to have a heat pump in every home and, in this case, to completely replace the gas boilers in recently built homes. We are pleased to offer this new unit which is manufactured in Europe for the European market. Flexibility, efficiency, long-term investment return, and low environmental impact are just some of the reasons why more and more Romanians are looking to replace older heating equipment with heat pumps that use renewable energy. Our turnover in the heat pumps segment doubled last fiscal year, and this year we have kept the upward trend”, says Daniel Vasile, Managing Director of Daikin România.

Quiet operation and impressive results, even during winter

Designed to cope with the most severe climatic conditions, the operating range of Altherma 3 H MT goes down to -28°C outside temperature and can also provide a leaving water temperature (LWT) of 65°C at -15°C outside temperature, by relying on the heat pump only and the comprehensive frost protection of its outdoor unit. Combined with existing radiators and underfloor heating the Altherma 3 H MT is a reliable new solution for replacing outdated heating systems. Due to its modern design, it is also recommended for new family houses of up to 400 m2. The black front grille of the outdoor unit consists of horizontal lines which hide the fan and the flat grey casing allows the unit to blend into any possible environment.

The Daikin Altherma 3 H MT is one of the most silent in its category. The sound pressure levels correspond to a noise level of 38 dBA at a distance of 3 meters, with a reduction to 35 dBA in low sound mode. The double sound reduction is achieved through triple-layer insulation of the compressor, and rubber pads between the bottom plate and the anti-vibration plate. It achieves an A+++ (the maximum) space heating energy label and an A+ (the maximum) in domestic hot water.

As an extension of the Daikin Bluevolution product range, it uses the refrigerant R-32 with a lower Global Warming Potential. The refrigerant is circulating only in the outdoor unit allowing easy installation and requiring only a water-side connection. Daikin is the first company in the world to launch heat pumps equipped with R-32, which is equivalent in power to standard refrigerants but achieves high energy efficiency and low CO2 emissions. Easy to recover and reuse, the R-32 is the perfect solution for achieving the new European CO2 targets.

Intelligent control, from any location

Altherma 3 H MT Series  is ready to be used for smart grid applications. Thereby thermal energy for heating and domestic hot water production can be stored efficiently for an affordable night electricity tariff. The combination with thermal solar panels is also possible.

Altherma 3 H MT offers three indoor unit series to choose from:

  • The ECH₂O series of combi floor standing units with an integrated heat accumulator for hygienic drinking water, which is open to additional heat sources;
  • The F series floor standing unit with an integrated water storage tank, with a small space and low height requirements;
  • The wall-mounted unit from the W series enables a flexible application for cascades or a hybrid solution for existing heating systems.
