Real estate professional George Leslie, who has been in charge of local acquisitions for GLL Partners and also director of real estate restructuring at KPMG, has gone on to create his own consultancy firm called EMRE Capital Management, Business Review has learned. “We are presently opening an office in Budapest. The Bucharest office will be opened in parallel with our first project in Romania later this year. We have plans to open offices in Warsaw and Prague,” Leslie told BR. “Romania is one of our key target markets as there is a significant amount of capital locked up in real estate special situations which will ultimately require support from external consultants that can accelerate an orderly workout process based on a credible and coherent commercial approach.”
EMRE Capital Management will provide professional services to financial institutions, institutional and private investors in the workout of real estate special situations, capital recovery, investment and asset management. “The regional market is not well resourced by existing consulting firms or agents concerning workout and corporate recovery – experience is limited and very few firms are able to provide a full scope of workout capabilities,” said Leslie.
The investment and asset management side of the business will be complementary to the firm’s workout services in that it will provide a framework for the takeout of banks or investors in real estate special situations. Leslie is the founding principal of the new company, which is fully owned by its principals. He is working with Andras Marton, who has also been a part of the GLL team.
