World-leading hospitality group Accor announces its robust financial achievements for the year 2023. The company reported a record-breaking EBITDA surpassing EUR 1 billion, alongside a 23% increase in revenue-per-available-room compared to the previous year. Entering 2024, Accor is dedicated to pursuing sustainable growth, focusing on expanding its portfolio and optimising operations. This outlook is supported by the anticipated resurgence in the travel industry, with forecasts predicting 1.5 billion international travellers in 2024.

Looking ahead, Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accor, said: “While the geopolitical backdrop remains complex, 2024 is set to be rich in major international events which should continue to fuel growth and we start this new year with confidence. Accor is ideally positioned to continue its bold expansion and bring to life its vision of a pioneering, responsible hotel industry that creates value for its shareholders.”

Accor had a successful year in Romania, with growing revenue per available room and high occupancy rate.  Four new hotels opened in the country last year and one more follows in early 2024. The latest addition to the Accor portfolio in Romania is the young and creative ibis Styles Sibiu Arsenal, a brand-new hotel on 73 rooms in Sibiu, next to Sub Arini Park.

“Accor’s performance in Romania for 2023 stands as a clear indication of our robust presence and strategic focus on this key market. Over the past year, we achieved a RevPAR increase of 16.7% and maintained a high occupancy rate, stated Frank Reul, VP – Development Accor Premium, Midscale & Economy Eastern Europe, Balkans, Italy & Greece.

We expanded our portfolio with five new hotels, adding 395 rooms and marking a 22% growthThe openings include Mercure Sibiu Arsenal, ibis Styles Pitesti Arges, ibis Styles Bucharest Airport, and Mercure Conacul Cozieni. As we move into 2024, we’ve already welcomed the ibis Styles Sibiu Arsenal and look forward to the Swissotel Poiana Brasov’s debut this spring

These milestones underscore our commitment to driving forward the hospitality industry in Romania,” added Frank Reul. Accor currently has 20 hotels in Romania, with 2153 rooms.
