White Image and Save the Children warn that a child under age of one dies every 9 hours

The White Image email marketing company and Save the Children Romania organisation are launching a campaign to encourage Romanians to redirect 3.5% of their income tax free of charge, by completing form 230, to equip 10 neonatology wards with equipment performing medical. Thus, the lives of thousands of premature babies can be saved. Statistics show that a child under the age of one dies every 9 hours in Romania.

In order to attract the necessary funds to equip 10 neonatal wards in Romanian hospitals, at least 10,000 people need to become heroes, mobilising their colleagues to fill in form 230 and collecting at least 50 forms. So far, several Romanians have become heroes, in addition to the professions they have, each of them already collecting over 50 forms, but as many heroes as possible are needed to obtain the necessary funds for equipping the neonatal wards. Thus, through the campaign “BE THE HERO WHO DOES. NOT THE ONE WHO PRETENDS!”, natural persons are encouraged to complete and send the 230 forms to the Save the Children Romania, until May 25, 2024.

Romania is on the EU podium regarding the infant mortality rate. The situation is also accentuated by the fact that in the country’s hospitals there is a chronic shortage of neonatologists, more precisely a lack of 40% of the total required number, according to an analysis carried out by Save the Children Romania. Also, the average age of the equipment in the neonatal wards is 8 years, and in some hospitals there is equipment over 25 years old, which should be replaced. The life support and care of a premature infant requires months, clinical experience and high-performance medical equipment, which replaces the environment in the mother’s womb and allows survival without disabilities.

“High-performance medical equipment can provide essential life support, in the monitoring of premature newborns and in precise and effective medical interventions that offer greater chances of survival and healthy development of these fighters. With infant mortality high compared to other EU countries, we need heroes to make a difference. Anyone can be the hero of premature babies with a very simple and free gesture that takes only 3 minutes: filling in the 230 form through which automatically, without any effort, 3.5% of the tax owed to the state will be redirected to save the lives of the little ones”, says Gabriela Alexandrescu, Executive President of Save the Children Romania.

The project is coordinated by Grațiela Lupu, with the support of colleagues Andi Amironoaiei, Alexandru Goagă and Raluca Radici from the White Image agency, who created and promote the campaign of the Save the Children organisation for a significant change in the lives of children born prematurely.

“We enthusiastically get involved to make a real change in the lives and future of children. We wanted this campaign to be not only effective, but also deeply significant for the problems faced by children in Romania. That’s why we encourage Romanians to inspire and mobilize their colleagues and relatives to fill in the 230 form. Anyone who wants can collect at least 50 230 forms and send them to the Save the Children  organisation by May 15, 2024. Through this campaign, we aimed let’s send a strong message about social responsibility and Romanians’ commitment to the health and well-being of children”, declares Grațiela Lupu, co-founder of White Image and coordinator of the campaign to collect 230 forms for equipping neonatology departments in hospitals.

During the collection of 230 forms, heroes who collect more than 50 such forms can opt to make their involvement known and to be an example for future errors, at www.salvaticopiii.ro/eroii-salvati-copiii.

More information about the campaign and the way to redirect 3.5% of the income tax is available at www.salvaticopiii.ro.

From 2010 until now, Save the Children Romania has equipped 122 medical units (neonatology wards, neonatal intensive care, pediatrics and Obstetrics-Gynecology wards) from all counties of the country, with over 1,700 vital equipment, investing over 10 million Of euro. In 2023 alone, Save the Children Romania equipped more than 55 medical units with high-performance equipment, ensuring survival and adequate treatment for at least 60,000 children.
