What to do in Bucharest this weekend?

With summer getting hotter every day, Bucharest is continuing to host exciting events that are sure to fit everyone’s tastes.

Music fans will be delighted on Saturday as the renowned rock band Scorpions will return to Bucharest to perform live as part of their Return to Forever tour. The German band has launched the world tour to celebrate 50 years of activity in the music industry and have so far performed in various countries around the globe, such as France, Switzerland, Korea, USA, Canada and many others. The concert will be held in the Romexpo Pavillion in Bucharest on July 16, from 18:00. Tickets can be purchased in the Eventim stores or online on www.eventim.ro. Prices vary from RON 172 to RON 270.

The 18th edition of the Bounty Fair will be held this weekend in University House in Bucharest. Bounty Fair is an outdoor handmade fair which promotes the Romanian creativity and the quality of handmade products. During this event, people can purchase handmade clothes and accessories, as well as jewelry, natural cosmetics and handmade home decorations, while children can take part in creative workshops with different themes. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance for RON 8 and children under the age of 14 have free access to the event.

For the art lovers, the Romanian National Art Museum will host on Saturday, July 16, the “Silver and pearls in orientalist paintings” conference, held by Dr. Carmen Tanasoiu, specialist in Romanian Old Art. The event is part of the “Mirrors of the Orient” exhibition and will focus on the representation of jewelry in exhibited paintings, as well as the discussion on how they were worn, their significance and the ways in which they were created. People who are interested in participating have to make a reservation by sending an email to programari@art.museum.ro or by calling 021.314.81.19 until Friday, 16:00. The price of a ticket is RON 10 and also includes the access to the “Mirrors of the Orient” exhibition.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Filipescu – Cesianu House will host five jazz concerts as opening acts of the Arts District national tour. Famous Romanian jazz artists and bands, such as Accord Vibes, Dalma Kovacs, Albert Tajti and Ciprian Popo will perform on July 16 and July 17 from 20:00. The Arts District project is organized by The Interpretative Creation Union of Musicians in Romania and is co-financed by The Administration of the National Cultural Fund. Access to the weekend event is free.
