The US Embassy in Bucharest is moving its new headquarters in Baneasa, on 4-5 Dr. Librescu Boulevard, starting September 14. The new HQ, which stands on a 4.5 hectares surface, is located north of Baneasa mall, close to the Tunari woods. The embassy will keep its current phone numbers. The current HQ in Tudor Arghezi street will close on September 7, and the regular working hours with the public will be restored on September 14.

During the one-week moving period, emergency services for US citizens are available at 021-200-3300.

The new building of the US embassy is build following green buildings design and construction guidelines imposed by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. Ecological paint and materials meant to reduce chemical and heat emissions in the atmosphere were used. Around three quarters of the site is green space populated with trees and plant resistant to draught, which also reduces water consumption. The public transport system RATB has created a new stop on the 301 line close to the embassy to encourage the use of public transport.

The embassy building was designed and built by American International Contractors. Bog’Art, Sommering, Apolodor, CamServ, Master Build, Green Shop, Alusystem, NM Construct, Lafarge, Schindler-Romania were involved in the construction project.
