Top 50 best performing companies listed on the BVB – Contrast Management-Consulting Romania

Newsroom 12/09/2011 | 11:58

Azomures, Ropharma and Electroarges were the best performing companies listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in 2010, according to a report of Contrast Management-Consulting Romania.

In 2010, the first companies in the top reached performance by adapting their strategies to new market  conditions, investments and coherent cost cutting programs and flexible pricing policies as well diversifying distribution and markets, according to the fourth edition of the “Contrast top 50 best performing companies listed on the BVB” study.

“In 2010, for the first time since the beginning of the economic crisis, most of the companies in our report have reported improvements of the main financial indicators: aggregate sales went up by 11.8 percent against 2009, EBIT increased by 180 percent compared to the previous year, marking the first return to growth after 2006,” said Adrian Comaneci, senior project manager with the consulting company.

In order to maintain the upward trend, it is very important for these companies to stick to the same balanced strategies imposed by the crisis and to no longer fall into the trap of diversifying and expanding their business without considering the costs and the real market trends, explained Comaneci.

The top’s leader, Azomures, went up 31 positions  compared to the previous year. The chemical fertilizers manufacturer saw a 62 percent turnover increase last year. The company that took the second position, Ropharma, reported a 22 percent turnover increase last year. Electroarges, the third company in the top, managed to increase its porifit by almost three times last year after boosting exports by 43 percent.

The top analyzes the performance of the top 40 companies listed on the BVB and the first ten listed on RASDAQ based on financial indicators and strategic management. Four main indicators were taken into account: the real rate of return on capital, return on equity, the aggregate growth rate and the return-on-investment rates of the shares.
