Ruukki Romania, a supplier of metal solutions, part of the Finish Rautaruukki Group, has registered a 70 percent increase of the turnover on Q3, exceeding the figures registered in the real estate boom period.

The exports of roofing systems and metal tiles increased by 40 percent in the first nine months of 2011, and the special steel division also fared well, achieving a market-share of 30 percent in Romania.

“Rautaruukki chose Romania as the main production hub of Ruukki Construction. The selection took into account the logistical possibility of servicing countries in the region, but also the local market. We have delivered more than half of the production on the Romanian market”, stated Marian Pirvu, business manager CEE. Pirvu added that the roofing and component segments have the largest share in the turnover, together with exports and special steels.

The delivery of roofing solutions has tripled in the first half of 2011, and this trend will continue, and Ruukki has also delivered cooling panels for three out of the four retail logistical centers that were finalized last year.  The company is also leading the special steel market, delivering products to local companies that have activity at an international level.

The greenfield investment made by Ruukki in Romania totaled EUR 35 million, and represented its largest investment in Europe. The company reported an 18 percent increase in turnover on 2010.
