In an intervention made when the new government took its oath in front of Romanian president, Traian Basescu said that he long knew who the future prime-minister was going to be.
“I am saying it now publicly: the name of the future prime- minister had long been discussed and known both by me and the former Romanian prime-minister Emil Boc. Those who acted surprised can very well be so,” said Basescu.
The president said he is expecting from the new cabinet the new health law and starting discussions with the opposition to convene on a new law for Romania’s administrative reorganization.
“I am expecting more rigor from the Ungureanu cabinet, more transparency. I am expecting that every RON spent appears on the websites of the ministries every day,” said Basescu.
“Romania must not borrow money in order to pay salaries and for social assistance,” said Basescu.
The president also thanked the former prime-minister, on the grounds that “Emil Boc and his team were politicians who assumed responsibility for taking Romania through the crisis. They placed national interest above their personal interest,” said Basescu.
