Romania receives Silver medals for Dumitrescu and Mihalachi at European Canoe Sprint Championship

Romanians Liviu Alexandru Dumitrescu and Victor Mihalachi won the silver medals in C2.500 m on Sunday, at the European Canoe Sprint Championship in Montemo-o-Velho, Portugal.

The two Romanians had also won the silver medal last year at the European championships in Zagreb. They were outdistanced by the Russians Alexey Korovashkov and Ivan Shtyl, European champions, while the bronze medals went to Poles Tomasz Kaczor and Vincent Slominski.

Liviu Alexandru Dumitrescu and Victor Mihalachi brought the fourth medal to Romania’s delegation at the European championships in Portugal. Besides this medal, the two won the bronze medals in C2 1,000 m, and Iosif Chirila, Catalin Costache, Gabriel Ghioca and Florin Comanici won the silver medals in C4 1,000 Senior Men, while the feminine team Irina Lauric and Bianca Plesca won the bronze medals in K2 1,000.
