Remus Cosovanu opened the seventh Spartan restaurant in Timisoara

Remus Cosovanu, the former football player, now businessman and Spartan franchisee who owns restaurants in Timisoara, Cluj and Deva, recently opened the seventh Spartan unit in Timisoara.

The investment amounted to approximately EUR 150,000, and in the first three days of the opening there were sales of about EUR 7,000 and about 1,500 customers. With the inauguration of the new unit, Spartan franchise’s investments in its restaurants in Timisoara exceeded EUR 750,000. The average monthly cumulative traffic in the seven restaurants is about 80,000 people.

The business man wants to open another three restaurants in the future, outside of the country, in Hungary and Austria.

The new unit is located in the central area of ​​the city and according to Spartan representatives, the choice of location was based on demand from consumers who want a restaurant and in the city center. Another reason is the increase in the number of tourists in Timisoara, which was designated the European Capital of Culture (CEAC) in 2021. The restaurant has 18 employees, currently occupies an area of ​​98 sqm and has a capacity of 40 seats in the interior, the terrace will be arranged soon.

Market leader in Timisoara

Spartan is the market leader in Timisoara on the roast meat segment, and its main competitors in the fast food area are McDonald’s and KFC, each with three open units. 

Remus Cosovanu reorientated to entrepreneurship and in 2014 and he opened his first Spartan restaurant in Timisoara. The Timisoara entrepreneur chose to go to the fast food market after analyzing the potential of several franchises in various areas and realizing the increased potential of this market segment.

Spartan is part of the franchise group Strong MND Corporation, a franchisor company that also owns the francizelacheie.ro platform. The restaurant chain was founded in 2012 and has 39 restaurants, of which 15 are own restaurants and another 24 are in a franchise system, opened in the capital city and in another 22 cities in the country.

The group turnover (own restaurants and franchised restaurants) in 2017 was EUR 20 million. In the 15 restaurants owned by Strong MND Corporation, the franchise company, 240 people are employed, and more than 600 people work in all 39 units.
