Ploiesti will host a three day film fest on East European productions. Bregovic will perform in the last day of the festival

Golden Carpathian Ploiesti European Film Fair will open the screens for its first edition on August 25-28 in Ploiesti city and is exclusively dedicated to East European productions. The organizers want film directors and producers together with distributors and other industry representatives who are seeking funding for film productions or want to sell rights for new films to reunite in a professional environment. Mick David, script writer and famous director for “Modigliani”(2004), will be present at Ploiesti along other 50 professionals of the film industry.

European cinema professionals, including Philip Bergson (Cannes jury member), Ferenc Moldovániy (members of the European Film Academy) and Dejan Petrovic ( member of the International Film Critics Association) will be part of the jury that offers prizes totaling EUR 10.000 for the best film directing, best script and the Golden Carpathian “Grand Prix” trophy for the best film. 7 films will enter in the competition.

Outside the competition, the public can watch successful Romanian film production like Nunta în Basarabia (Napoleon Helmis, 2009), Buna, ce faci? (Alexandru Maftei, 2010) and Decolarea (Timotei Ursu, 1971).

On the second day of the Ploiesti film festival, the movie “Ursul” will be projected on a giant screen in the central park of Ploiesti city. The film was directed by Dan Chisu and Goran Bregovic delivered the soundtrack.

On August 28, the last day of the festival, Goran Bregovic will take the stage in Ploiesti central park together with the Wedding and Funeral Orchestra starting 21:00. Guests and spectators will listen to the classic tunes that made Bregovic famous and appreciated around the world. Some of the hits that will be played by the Balkan artist include “Silence of the Balkans”, “Tale and songs from weddings and funerals” and “Underground”. Bregovic is one of the best rated soundtrack composers. He composed for “Vremea tiganilor”, “Arizona Dream” and “Underground”,  all three directed by Emir Kusturica.
