Telecom operators Orange and Cosmote announced that they are trying to bring the new iPhone 4S to Romania before the end of the year.

Thus, Jean-Francois Fallacher, CEO of Orange Romania, said there are intense ongoing discussions with Apple, which decides when the iPhone 4S will be launched in every country. “We are in discussions with Apple to speed up this decision. Let us hope that we can launch the new phone in Romania before the end of the year,” said Fallacher in Cluj-Napoca.

On the other hand, Panos Makris, commercial manager of Cosmote Romania also said: “From the information we have at this moment from the producer, we will launch the iPhone 4S by the end of this year,” he said for Hotnews.ro

iPhone 4S was launched on October 4, just one day before the death of Apple founder Steve Jobs. In three days from launch, the phone sold four million handsets.

Free of contract, the new Apple phone sells for EUR 629 (the 16 GB version) and EUR 739 (the 32 GB version) in France and Germany.

Prices for the phone, accompanied by a two year contract with a mobile operator start from USD 199 in USA and EUR 199 in Europe.

The improved version of the iPhone 4 includes a new processor, a better camera, much better autonomy and faster download speeds. The iPhone 4S is available in stores in USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, France, Germany and Japan starting with October 14.

iPhone 4S will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries by the end of October (but Romania is not included on the list): Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, according to the Apple press release.
