Flip.ro launches refurbished tablets, as good as new, on the platform

Flip.ro, the young Romanian start-up that encourages circular economy by refurbishing phones and reintroducing them on the market as good as new, announces the launch of a new product category on the platform.

Starting from August 16th, Flip.ro also offers tablets refurbished to the highest standards in the industry. The tablets are available in all three markets where Flip is present – Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary. Additionally, refurbished tablets are also available for Flip Business customers.

“The question we’ve been asked most often, even since our launch, has been around introducing a new product category, and now that moment has arrived. Those who want to make more environmentally friendly choices can now purchase refurbished tablets from Flip. We chose to wait for our business to mature before adding a new product category, ensuring that we have all the conditions for refurbishment in order to maintain the same high standards our customers have become accustomed to with our phones. We selected tablets because they are the most similar to phones both in terms of software and hardware,” says Alin Luca, co-founder of Flip.ro.

The tablets refurbished by Flip.ro offer the same benefits as refurbished phones: they undergo 67 quality tests for both hardware and software, have prices up to 40% lower compared to new tablets, offer a minimum 12-month warranty, have over 85% battery health, come with a 30-day free return policy, offer installment payment options, and are available through the Try Now Pay Later service.

Currently, the platform offers 13 tablet models, all produced by Apple. Prices for tablets start at 689.99 lei for the iPad 6 9.7″ (2018) WiFi version with 64 GB, and can go up to 5719.99 lei for the 5th generation iPad Pro 12.9″ (2021) Cellular version with 256GB. Other available models on Flip.ro include:

“According to our internal data, in 2021, the tablet market in Romania was valued at 63 million euros, while consumers replace their tablets every 4-5 years according to Statista, so we have confidence in this new service. We want Romanians to be able to sell their unused tablets on Flip.ro in the coming year. In 2024, we aim to add two new categories of refurbished products – smartwatches and laptops – so that we can continue our mission of encouraging more responsible consumption habits when it comes to electronics“, adds Alin Luca.
