The restructuring plan of the national television channel as well as the measure to lay off approximately 10 percent of its staff has been approved by the administration board of TVR.

The plan stipulates decreasing costs by approximately EUR 14 million (RON 50 million) annually as well as laying off people. At the moment, TVR has approximately 3,300 employees.

The restructuring and reorganization process will last several months and the majority of expenses reductions will be obtained by axing staff expenses.

“We aim to make redundant approximately 10 percent of the staff after evaluations, reducing the number of productions and identifying activities that must no longer be maintained,” said Alexandru Lazescu, president and GM of TVR, quoted by Hotnews.ro

The plan also stipulates other measures. The contracts of the entire management will be signed only for a limited period of 3 years. There will be a reform of the salaries that will see the elimination of the gaps between the salaries in the institution. Last but not least, the sums allocated for working supplementary hours, and working during the weekend will decrease by 75 percent, according to Lazescu, quoted by Hotnews.ro
