The only IKEA store in Romania has reported a 10.5 percent sales increase between the beginning of September 2010 and the end of August 2011, totaling RON 361.8 million (approximately EUR 84 million).

“A 10.5 percent sales increase in 2011 is something to be proud of especially when considering the fact that we are among the few markets where IKEA has reported growth – we are talking about markets with already existing stores”, said Cornel Oprisan, retail manager of IKEA Romania.

The store which is located in the Baneasa retail park in Bucharest has sold 11 million products and has reported 2.8 million visitors. Furniture represents 60 percent of the products sold while the rest are various accessories. During the same period the store employed about 425 persons with an average age of 31.
