Local car sales down 30 percent in the first nine months y-o-y

Car sales have plunged some 30 percent from 88,645 units between January and September compared with the same period from 2009.

Also, Romanian new car registrations fell 19 percent to 6,860 units in September, from 8,471 units a month earlier, according to official information.

Overall new auto registrations, including other commercial vehicles, reached 8,390 units last month, 2.5 percent lower on the year. In 2009, new car registrations in Romania fell 59 percent on the year to 116,012 units.
