Key move. Andreas Down appointed CIO of TBI Bank

Andreas Down has been appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) of TBI Bank and will manage the digital transformation of the bank. In his new position, Down will apply the TBI Bank’s  digital strategy that he developed together with experts in finance and technology.

“Clients want to control their finances any moment, using any device, while the usage of big data volumes changed the manner we understand and anticipate the behavior. The digital transformation will help TBI Bank to be among the preferred applications on the clients’ devices. I am thrilled to lead this process,” said Down.

Previously, Down was CIO and member of the Board Council of Fidor, one of the innovative fintech banks. He led all the data center’ operations, the applications development and the internal IT environment of the group and also led the team that developed several innovative concepts. He also worked for other banks and financial services companies.

„Taking into account his knowledge in FinTech and his experience in IT in banking sector, Andreas will lead us to our main objective, to become a digital bank of new generation. We develop new systems focused on client and the online products lines,” said Petr Baron, managing director of TBIF Financial Services, the holding that owns TBI Bank.

Currently the bank focuses on the attraction of the best experts in innovation and of the best local talents. TBI bank plans to involve the clients from Europe based through the online environment.

The bank is focused on retail clients and SMEs that operate in Bulgaria and Romania and it owns 69 offices in both countries.
