Retailer Kaufland Romania opens Food Court and launches a new open mall concept for commercial galleries outside the store.

The first commercial gallery is inside the Kaufland’s store from Barbu Vacarescu street and will gradually be expanded in other stores of the network.

Inside Kaufland, the Food Court area comprises restaurants, pastry and coffee shops, Salad Box, Noodle Pack, Thai Scoops and Tip Top. A Subway unit will also be launched soon. In the gallery there are two more nonfood areas- Sensiblu pharmacy and Xpress store for press.

“This step is the start for our ‘malls’. It’s an implementation project of the food-to-food connect vision. People need more and more fresh. This is why we continue the reinvention process of the hypermarket, through all the innovative initiatives from the last period,” said Andrei Secretianu, rentals/sales B2B director, Kaufland Romania.

Inside the store, Kaufland expanded the commercial galleries through containers that comprise tenants’ stores inside the parking lot.

Recently, Kaufland Romania launched the first network of community urban gardens, transforming the roofs and the parking exterior in the green spaces with vegetables, fruits, aromatic plants and flours, that cannot be used in the community.
