Huawei plans to boost headcount by 200 in Romania by yearend

Chinese telecom equipment supplier Huawei plans to add 200 more people to its roster by the end of this year, who will work in the Global Service Center, writes wall-street.ro.

At the moment, Huawei has 600 employees, 200 of which are working on services, while the rest are in sales, financial and marketing domain.

Last year, Huawei announced during discussions with Romanian authorities that it planned to invest EUR 200 million in Romania by 2014, mainly in a design center in Bucharest and a national fiber optic network in partnership with power grid operator Transelectrica.

The general manager of Huawei Romania, Jeff Wang, said at the beginning of September 2011 that the Chinese equipment manufacturer would employ a total of 1,500 people by 2014 in the global service center, of whom 80 percent will be Romanian employees.
