Finance minister Dragu plans to sue ex-ANAF head Diaconu for defamation

The Minister of Public Finance, Anca Dragu, and the state secretary Gabriel Biriș firmly reject the accusations brought by the former president of tax administration agency ANAF, Gelu Diaconu, against them.

“A proof that transparency is one of the strategic priorities of the Anca Dragu is the monthly notes regarding the revenues and budgetary spendings situation. Unfortunately, every press release with the collection data was followed by accusations without proof, denigrating articles regarding the minister of public finance.

All the posts on Gelu Diaconu’s blog are written in an aggressive language and have as excuse a malicious interpretation of the figures,” said the Ministry of Finance in a statement.

In the most recent posts, Diaconu talked about threats with inquiries and firing of employees from the Ministry without any proof.  He wrote that “The great incompetence of the ministry made unstable a system that started to work with very good results. It can be easily seen that the easing of fiscal receipts emission, the partnership with consulting firms, appearance of a divine monsters of the system in the functions from which I removed them, starting control actions insufficiently targeted with doubtful results.”

The minister of finance might sue Gelu Diaconu for defamation, according to the Ministry.
