Eastern European Mobile Monday Developer Summit opened its gates today, bringing over 30 participant companies from 14 countries.

The event will last for 3 days and expects a number of 1,000 visitors from Romania and abroad.

“Unlike Western Europe, where numerous such events take place, no such large span meeting has been organized on this part of the continent. And the market needs such an impetus,” said Dan Romescu, founder of Mobile Monday Romania which organizes this event.

Among the speakers in this event there are Sanyu Kiruluta, Team Lead Developer Relations at Research In Motion; Erik Hellman, Research Manager in Sony Ericsson Labs as well as Terance Eden, Developer Community Manager InMobi, the largest global independent advertising network.

The presentations will be completed by workshops where visitors have the opportunity to test for the first time live Blackberry, Adobe and HTML5 applications.

“At this point, most concepts for applications and mobile services are created in Western Europe but more than half of their development is made in the Eastern states, where there is a great deal of outsourcing, We propose to balance the scales and in the future to have locally not only developers but also designers and digital architects,” said   Dan Romescu, from Mobile Monday.

This event targets the community of developers who have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to companies and network with other significant players in the industry.

“Developers are a scarce resource in the world. Facebook is starting to eat up companies. In Silicon Valley there is a shortage of software developers and they are now setting their sights on Eastern Europe. Don’t be surprised if Facebook starts to buy in a few years the first Romanian company,” says Raimo van der Klein, CEO of Layar who attends the event.

“We have offices in Prague, Budapest and Zagreb. Not in Bucharest, but we are working on that. If we can find a company in Bucharest or Cluj that understand our philosophy, we intend to open an office here, said Eric Reiss, CEO FatDUX Group.
